Picking a military scale model
Military fuselages are the heart of scale helicopter flying. The shapes are distinctive, the colour schemes are documented, and a Huey in olive drab hovering across a field with the lights on draws a crowd like nothing else in the hobby.
This page gathers every military type we stock. From FLISHRC: the AH-64 Apache, AH-1 Cobra, UH-1 Huey and UH-1N Twin Huey, UH-60 Black Hawk, SH-60 Sea Hawk, AH-6 Little Bird and the 700-class Tiger, all GPS-stabilised and ready to fly. From Roban: the Apache, Cobra, UH-1, UH-60, Little Bird, Tiger and Z-10 in 450, 470, 700 and 800 size. From Flywing: the Huey V4, the most affordable scale military model we sell. And for the desk or living room, the RC ERA Huey and WLtoys Black Hawk micros.
Camouflage, desert, naval grey and rescue schemes are listed as separate products where the maker offers them.
- Attack helicopters
- Apache, Cobra, Tiger, Z-10. Narrow tandem fuselages with stub wings. They look fast even in a hover, and the FLISHRC versions are stabilised.
- Utility and transport
- Huey, Twin Huey, Black Hawk. Big cabins, two-blade heads on the Hueys, four on the Black Hawk. The most forgiving military airframes to fly.
- Naval
- Sea Hawk and the Roban AS-365. Folding-rotor looks, grey schemes, and the same mechanics underneath.
- Special operations
- AH-6 Little Bird. Small, light fuselage, nimble in the air. A good choice if you want military looks with sportier handling.
- Which military RC helicopter is easiest to fly?
- The Flywing Huey V4 or any FLISHRC FL450/FL500 military model. All have GPS stabilisation. The Hueys' two-blade heads are also the most tolerant of a learner's inputs.
- Is there an RC Apache that is ready to fly?
- Yes: the FLISHRC AH-64 Apache in 500 class is supplied RTF or RTR with GPS stabilisation. The Roban Apache 700 is an ARF kit for your own electronics.
- Do you have an RC Chinook?
- Not at the moment. Tandem-rotor models are rare in this size range. Email us and we will tell you if that changes.
- Can I add working lights and weapons?
- Most Roban and FLISHRC fuselages have provision for scale lighting, and some include it. Weapon pylons and stores are moulded on the attack types. Check the product page for what is fitted.
